Harold J. "Buzz" Knight, PresidentBuzz was born in Worchester, Massachusetts and graduated in 1971 from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst, where he earned a Bachelor of Business Administration degree. While at school, Buzz financed his education by starting a small construction business specializing in the construction of swimming pools. Upon graduation, he continued with construction work, framing custom homes and shop buildings. In 1972, Buzz moved to Mt. Shasta. For the next five years, he worked in the construction trade, building and eventually helping to design custom residential projects.By 1977, Buzz fulfilled his dream of once again running his own business by acquiring his California State Contractor's License and starting "TimberWorks." This sole proprietorship was incorporated in 1983 as "Shasta Services." In recent years, Buzz has turned his creative drive to meeting the challenges of some unique commercial projects. Buzz is active in local Mt. Shasta civic and environmental affairs. He has served on the Board of Directors for the Siskiyou Land Trust and the Associated Charitable Resource of South Siskiyou. With over 30 years of construction experience, Buzz is responsible for client relations, design input and value engineering considerations. Jennifer L. Knight, Secretary / TreasurerJennifer was born in Los Angeles, California and attended both high school and college in Southern California. She moved to Siskiyou County in 1981 and joined TimberWorks in 1983 as an assistant bookkeeper.Jennifer is truly the "heart" of TimberWorks. She oversees all aspects of the corporate office in Mt. Shasta, including all financial functions, job cost accounting and tracking, bonding and contract coordination. She was one of the early innovators in the development and beta testing of computerized bookkeeping for the construction industry. Jennifer has applied that knowledge to TimberWorks' adoption of state-of-the-art networked computerized accounting, payroll, scheduling and job costing system. Kellen Waite, Earthwork SupervisorKellen was born in Red Bluff and moved to Mt. Shasta in 1971. He graduated from Mt. Shasta High School and earned his Associates of Science Degree from College of the Siskiyous.Excavation experience started at an early age for Kellen. He began by helping with his father's excavation company. Eventually he was responsible for all aspects of the business including scheduling, estimating, supervising, accounting, etc. Kellen's experience includes private and public engineering construction projects including site prep work, wetland mitagation, sewage lift stations and underground utilities. Kellen, recruited to TimberWorks in February 2000, is our earthwork's estimator and supervisor. Michael Williams, EstimatorMichael moved to Mt. Shasta in 1993 after working in the computer industry for 15 years. He graduated from Chico State with his Bachelor of Science in Computer Engineering and from the University of California Santa Barbara with a Masters in Science for Computer Engineering. He holds several domestic and international patents in the medical device field. He is active in the community and was instrumental in building the Siskiyou Ice Rink and starting the Summit Century Bicycle Ride.Michael was recruited in 2002 to run and advance our estimating department. Rick Knight, Operations ManagerBorn and raised in Massachusetts, Rick spent many summers in Mt. Shasta helping his older brother, Buzz, with projects. In 1986 he moved to the San Francisco Bay Area where he worked for United Airlines as an aircraft mechanic on 747's for 15 years. Looking for a change of pace, Rick began working for TimberWorks in January 2003.Rick brings extensive mechanical, logistical and human resource skills to TimberWorks. He is invaluable in keeping the field crews running smoothly so our projects are completed in a timely manner. Stacy Moller, Bookkeeper Stacy came from Mammoth Lakes, California, to Mt. Shasta in 1989 with her family. She has a broad range of previous bookkeeping and secretarial experience from many industries. Stacy has worked for construction firms, restaurants, architects, environmental consulting firms, and even a county water district. Stacy began her employment with TimberWorks in 1997 and assists Jennifer in bookkeeping including accounts payable and accounts receivable. Shalonda Naranjo, PayrollShalonda grew up in Dunsmuir, CA just south of Mt. Shasta. She is a graduate of Simpson College in Redding where she got her Bachelor's Degree in Liberal Arts. She has worked as a restaurant manager, waitress and bartender.She was recruited in 2005 to handle payroll and help Jennifer in the accounting department. Since then she has taken on prevailing wage compliance and our safety program. |
